Following the screening of the films “When the Swallows Fall Silent” and “Milk–Rose” on March 26, 2026, at Stadtkino in Vienna, within the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026, we would like to provide a brief evaluation of the event.

The collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Austria, His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Andreas Ignatiou, as well as the diplomatic staff of the Embassy in Vienna, was excellent.

The screening was highly successful, with a significant audience turnout and very positive reception. The audience included members of the diplomatic EU delegetion in Austria, cultural professionals, as well as members of the Greek and Cypriot diaspora in Vienna. Notably, among the attendees were 17 Ambassadors of foreign countries, as well as representatives of international organizations based in Vienna, further reinforcing the international character of the event.

The event was introduced by the Ambassador of Cyprus to Vienna, Mr. Andreas Ignatiou. Both films, “When the Swallows Fall Silent” and “Milk–Rose,” received warm and emotional responses. The discussion that followed with the audience, in the presence of director Constantinos Patsalidis and producer–screenwriter George Avraam, developed into a meaningful and engaging dialogue, highlighting the strength of Cypriot cinema and its thematic relevance within a European context.

At the same time, our presence in Vienna was also leveraged for professional networking. Targeted meetings were held with institutions and industry professionals, including the Hirt Agency, with the aim of promoting Cypriot cinema and our projects currently in development. These discussions opened prospects for future collaborations and further international networking.
