The powerful documentary “ROLL CALL OF THE MISSING” was awarded the Silver Award in the category Independent Videos – Documentary at the US International Awards, during yesterday’s ceremony.
The script and production are by journalist George Avraam, and the film is directed by Constantinos Patsalides.
The documentary was produced with the support of MEP Kostas Mavrides and the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament.
The documentary delves into one of the most painful chapters of the 1974 Cyprus tragedy. Inspired by the tragic and mysterious disappearance of a five-year-old boy, Christakis Georgiou, the film unravels the complex and heartbreaking story of Cyprus’ missing persons and the relentless struggle of their families — both Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot — to find answers about their loved ones.
It also highlights the urgent need for Turkey to grant access to military archives and restricted military zones, which could help expedite the process of identifying the missing.
The documentary continues its journey across international film festivals, drawing attention to the ongoing humanitarian issue that still haunts the island.
Με Αργυρό Βραβείο στην κατηγορία Ανεξάρτητα Βίντεο – Ντοκιμαντέρ τιμήθηκε χθες στα US International Awards το συγκλονιστικό ντοκιμαντέρ ΠΡΟΣΚΛΗΤΗΡΙΟ ΑΓΝΟΟΥΜΕΝΩΝ για τους αγνοούμενους της Κύπρου.
Το σενάριο και την παραγωγή του ντοκιμαντέρ υπογράφει ο δημοσιογράφος Γιώργος Αβραάμ και την σκηνοθεσία ο Κωνσταντίνος Πατσαλίδης.
Το ντοκιμαντέρ έγινε με την στήριξη του ευρωβουλευτή Κώστα Μαυρίδη και της ευρωομάδας των Σοσιαλιστών και Δημοκρατών.
Το ντοκιμαντέρ ξετυλίγει την πιο οδυνηρή πτυχή της κυπριακής τραγωδίας του 1974. Εμπνευσμένο από μια τραγική και μυστηριώδη εξαφάνιση ενός μικρού αγοριού 5 ετών, του Χριστάκη Γεωργίου, το ντοκιμαντέρ ξετυλίγει το κουβάρι του δράματος των αγνοουμένων και της ατελείωτης μάχης των οικογενειών για να βρουν απαντήσεις για τους αγαπημένους τους, Ελληνοκύπριους και Τουρκοκύπριους. Αναδεικνύει επίσης την ανάγκη η Τουρκία να παρέχει πρόσβαση στα στρατιωτικά αρχεία και στις στρατιωτικές ζώνες. Το ντοκιμαντέρ συνεχίζει την πορεία του σε διεθνή φεστιβάλ κινηματογράφου.
